Mansfield Juniors – Under 17 Girls

On January 15th the Under 17 girls travelled to Chilwell Olympia in Nottingham, continuing their campaign for the title. The girls played impressively against some strong players and managed to come out on top winning their match six games to four, claiming 3 points for their victory.
Singles: Paige lost 7 – 21. Lorna lost 19 – 21. Hattie won 22 – 20. Eleanor  won 21 – 2. Doubles: Paige & Lorna lost 13 – 21. Hattie & Eleanor won 24 – 22. Paige & Hattie lost 16 – 21. Lorna & Eleanor won 21 – 15. Paige & Eleanor won 26 – 24 and Hattie & Lorna won 21 – 9.

Mansfield Juniors – Under 11’s

January 16th saw the youngest age group of the club travelling to Southwell to play. The youngsters played emphatically and won all of their games winning the match by a remarkable 15 games to zero. The team claimed 3 points. Well done under 11’s.
Boys Singles: Sam 21 – 6. Robin 21- 9. Rohan  21 – 6. Thomas  21 – 18. Girls Singles: Brogan  21 – 7. Alexis 21 – 10.
Boys Doubles: Sam & Robin won both their matches 21 – 12 and 21 – 9. Rohan & Thomas also won both of their matches 21 – 14 and 21 – 14. Girls Doubles: Brogan & Alexis won 21 – 12. Mixed Doubles: Sam & Brogan 21 – 11. Robin & Alexis 21 – 13. Rohan & Brogan 21 – 5. Thomas & Alexis 21 – 19.

Mansfield Juniors – Under 15’s, 1st team

On January 16th, the under 15’s first team played Sunrise, away at Bingham Leisure Centre. The team was struggling for players but managed to put together a team to be reckoned with on the day. They fought hard and managed to claim a narrow victory, by 8 games to 7. Claiming 3 points on the day, took Mansfield to the top of the table in the league.
Boys Singles: Luke  won 26 – 24. Joe  lost 10 – 21. Andrew  lost 21 – 11. Paige  won 21 – 19. Girls Singles: Hattie  won 21 – 15. Elizabeth  won 22 – 20.
Boys Doubles: Luke & Joe won one game 21 – 17 and lost game 18 -21. Andrew & Paige lost both their games 22 – 24 and 2 -21. Girls Doubles: Hattie and Elizabeth won 21 – 12. Mixed Doubles: Luke & Hattie won 21- 11. Joe & Elizabeth lost 19 – 21. Andrew & Hattie lost 14 – 21. Paige and Elizabeth won 21 – 13.

Mansfield Juniors – Under 17’s

21st January saw Mansfield’s under 17’s play host to Nottingham’s Chilwell Junior Badminton Club at the Manor Sports complex. The home side were in good form and dominated the contest from the very start and only lost two games in the match. The team won an impressive victory with 13 games to 2 against Chilwell who fought hard but just did not match up to Mansfield’s strength and skill. Mansfield claimed 3 points for their win.
Boys Singles: Michael  won 21 – 19. Ryan  won 21 – 16. John  won 21 – 8. Luke  won 21 – 16. Girls Singles: Ruth  won 21 – 8. Jenny  lost 14 – 21.
Boys Doubles: Michael & Ryan won both games 21 – 17 and 21 – 19. John & Luke also won both games 21 – 12 and 21 – 13. Girls Doubles: Ruth & Jenny won 21 – 11. Mixed Doubles: Michael & Ruth won 21 – 8. Ryan & Jenny lost 17 – 21. John & Ruth won 21 -12 and Luke & Jenny won 21 – 16.

This was an excellent week for the Mansfield Junior Badminton Club, with victories to all the age categories. Well done Mansfield, keep up all your hard work.

I have played badminton for 40 years and work in energy efficiency, mainly in schools. I am Chair of Governors at Flying High Academy Ladybrook, so have experience of Safeguarding to a high standard. I have a daughter, Emily, at the club and a 2-year-old son, Jason, who wants to join as soon as he can.
