Mansfield Girls help Notts to Shires League Success

May 31st, 2018

The u14 Shires League finals were held in Wolverhampton on Sunday 20th May and of the 4 girls playing for Nottinghamshire, 3 were from MJBC – Rebecca, Kate and Emily.

The team started with a difficult match against Surrey (who eventually finished as runners up overall) and despite some spirited performances Notts unfortunately lost which meant that they were then playing for 5th to 8th position. The team rallied back strongly to beat Essex and set up a match against Warwickshire to determine 5th position. After many hard fought and close games Warwickshire were just too strong which meant a 6th place finish for the Notts team.

Some great performances by our 3 girls who have been part of the Notts team throughout the season and to finish 6th out of 26 Counties was a tremendous achievement and helped Notts to gain its highest placed finish in any Shires League age group for a number of years.

MJBC are proud of the girls’ achievements and hopefully they can all go on to better things next season.
