Tournament Success for Kate

May 4th, 2017

It was an early start for Kate (one of our rising stars) as she travelled to Birmingham on Sunday 23rd April to take part in a Badminton England under 11 Bronze Tournament.

Playing first in the girls’ singles Kate (9) won all 4 games in her group to progress to the finals. In the deciding match (against a player ranked no 5 in the country), which was always close and extremely hard fought, Kate eventually came out on top 21-19 to win the gold medal.

She also played in the girls’ doubles with Martha (from the Chilwell junior club). Unfortunately they lost just 1 of their matches but did take the silver medal as runners up.

This is an excellent result for someone who was playing in what was just her second national tournament.

WELL DONE KATE – you’re a credit to Mansfield Junior Badminton Club.
